Long ago on the island of Hawaii, there lived an old woman, Heena. And Heena was so old, that no-one could rightly remember when she had been born. She herself had given birth to twenty-two children and now she spent her time cooking and cleaning for all her children’s children. And Heena felt old. She didn’t know how old she was, but she knew she was old. And she was tired. She was tired of all the cooking and cleaning, that had filled her days from dawn to dusk, for so many years. All she wanted was a rest.
Long ago, when the world began, before the humans came, there was one Earth and there was one Sun, but there was no Moon in the sky. And at night – it was very, very, very dark! All the night-time animals found it very difficult to see. They bumped into trees, they fell over rocks, and, worst of all, they could not see to find their food.
Long ago, on an island in the Caribbean sea… There lived a King, in a magnificent palace that was built by the sea, so that he could sit at night on his throne and look out to sea. And the King sat and looked every night, and he noticed something very strange. The Moon in the sky, seemed to change shape. Every night, it looked different! How could this be?
Long ago, in China… There was a King, the King of all China, the wealthiest of Kings, in all the lands. Now, this King, he had everything that money could buy. Except … For the one thing he really wanted, which was a child. A son or a daughter to be Queen or King after him. Now China was full of children, there were many children to choose from, to be the next Queen or King. How could he decide which was the right child to choose?
Long ago, when the world began, according to Chinese legend.
There was one earth, spinning in the sky! There was one moon, spinning in the sky!
But, but, but – was there just one sun – No!
There was … One, Two, Three, Four, Five, Six!
Six suns that rose in the sky above China.
And it was hot! Very, very, very, very, very, very hot!
It was so hot! It was just too hot for any food to grow!
It was just too hot for any water to flow!
What could the people of China do? There was nothing, nothing, nothing they could do!

And when he is scared, Euw, he lets out a very bad smell!
Long ago in Peru. Peru was a land filled with grass, a very special grass, called Pampas grass, that stretched as far as the eye could see.
And, in the middle of this land of grass, there was a tiny hole, that led to a big tunnel, that went down and down and down into the Earth. And living in this tunnel was a Mole.
Long ago in the country called Bolivia …
There was a mountain, a big mountain that went up and up and up and up into the sky. And at the bottom of the mountain there was a tiny hole.
And in that hole, there lived a very special animal, Skunk.
Now Skunk, he has black and white stripes and a long bushy tail
And when he is scared … Eugh! he lets out a very bad smell!
Now Skunk, he sleeps all day., But – when the Moon rises at night, whoosh,
The light shines into his hole and wakes him up.
He climbs out of his hole, climb, climb, climb, climb, climb!
And looks up at the Moon “Hello Moon!”.
