Long ago, when the world began, before the Humans came… There was nothing but Winter, and Winter had spread far across the land. The trees were bowed down with snow, the leaves were brown and the few berries and fruit that grew, soon withered and died. The rivers and lakes were ice, and those that lived in them suffered and many of them died.

One day, Summer Sun and Winter Wind were having an argument. “I am the strongest” said Summer Sun “Because I can bring drought to the world and cause the plants and the people to die.” “Oh no you are not!” said Winter Wind “I am the strongest because I bring gales and storms and floods and devastation wherever I go.” “Oh yes I am!” said Summer Sun, “I am stronger than you! People fear me far more than they do you!”
Long ago, it was said that there was two worlds. The real world where real people lived and the imagined world where the fair folk lived. These two worlds lay apart and their paths never crossed, except at certain times of the year. The longest day and the longest night. There was once a young girl who more than anything else in the world wanted to reach for the stars. She did not just want to see them, she wanted to touch them. Of course all of her family thought this was a ridiculous idea…
Long ago in the far, far North of what is now called America, it was not possible for the people to stay in their homes throughout the year. For when the North Wind came, they had to move away to the warmer lands down South. As so as Summer changed to Autumn, the people would be wait for the first signs and sounds of The North Wind blowing through their land.
Long ago, in the time before there was a country called Mexico, the people who lived in that land were called the Maya. They lived high in the mountains and deep in the rainforest that spread across the land, we now call Mexico. And, in the edge of the rainforest, there was a village, and in that village, there was a house, And in that house, there lived a family.
Long ago, when the world began. The world was perfect. It was blue and green and perfect. There was enough food, there was enough water, it was perfect. All the animals and humans lived happily together, side by side. Everything was perfect, perfect, perfect. Except … For one problem!
Long ago, when the world began. The stars shone in the sky so brightly,
they seemed to shimmer and sparkle. It looked as if they were dancing through the sky. Coyote, the wild dog of America, he used to go out into long, long grass of the prairie and gaze up at the stars at night. He would look up at the stars and wish and wish and wish that he could join them and dance across the sky.
Long ago in Vietnam, at the edge of the rainforest, there was a house.
And in that house lived a young man. He had very few possessions, a knife, a cooking pot and a dog, that he had found lost as a puppy wandering alone through the forest and limping from a damaged leg. The young man and his dog were inseparable. They went everywhere and did everything together. Every day, they would walk into the forest, looking for scraps of wood. The man would gather the pieces of wood into a bundle and then they would take them to market to sell to the traders who worked there. And with the money they made from the wood, they bought food for their supper to eat.
In the middle of the Pacific Ocean, are the islands that we now call the Islands of Polynesia…
Long ago, on one of those islands there lived a King.
And he had one child, a daughter, whom he loved more than anything.
Long ago, in the country that is now called Israel,
There was a King, no ordinary King but an extraordinary King. King Solomon!
It was said, that he was the wealthiest of all the Kings.
It was said, that he was the wisest of all the Kings.
It was said ,that he was so clever, that he knew all the languages of all the animals in his Kingdom.
